Get an Estimate

Thinking about restoring your wooden canoe? We’re happy to help! To provide an accurate estimate, we need to get a good look at your canoe — even before it arrives in the shop. Here’s how the process works.

1. Contact Us First

Start by reaching out through our Contact Page or by email at ghostpinecanoe@gmail.com. Let us know:

  • Your name and where you’re located

  • The make/model of the canoe (if known)

  • A short description of its condition

  • Whether you're looking for a full restoration or specific repairs

We’ll reply with next steps and may ask you to send some photos.

2. How to Photograph Your Canoe for an Estimate

Good photos help us see what your canoe needs — and what it doesn’t. Please take your time and send clear images in good lighting. Here’s what to include:

Exterior Views

  • Full Side View (Both Sides): Stand back far enough to fit the whole side of the canoe in one photo. Try to shoot straight on (not at an angle).

  • End Views (Both Ends): Photograph the bow and stern from straight on, so we can see the stem condition and decks.

Interior Views

  • Top-Down View: Looking straight down into the canoe, showing thwarts, seats, ribs, and planking.

  • Close-ups of Trouble Spots: Any cracked ribs, broken planks, soft spots, or previous repairs.

  • Decks and Gunwales: Get clear shots of the ends and along the inner and outer gunwales.

  • Seats: A top down shot of each seat can be helpful too.

Extra Helpful Details

  • Serial Number or Builder’s Plate (if present)

  • Any areas you’re especially concerned about

Tip: Natural daylight works best. Avoid harsh shadows or overly dark photos. If something’s hard to photograph, let us know — we’ll guide you!

3. What Happens Next

Once we’ve reviewed your photos, we’ll give you:

  • A preliminary estimate for restoration work

  • A rough timeline based on our current schedule

  • Options for transporting your canoe to our shop

Final pricing may adjust once we inspect the canoe in person, but this process gives a solid starting point.
