The Shop is Filling Up

The canoe shop is full for this fall! Today we unloaded 3 more canoes into the shop for restoration. An Old Town HW, a Chestnut Deer, and a Greenwood join the Chestnut Prospector, Chestnut Bob's Special and the Tremblay that were already there.

One more is on it's way next week to round out our fall schedule with 7 beautiful canoes. Well, at least they'll be beautiful when we finish with them!

How did the shop become full so quickly? It was quite an adventure! We journeyed through blizzards, icy roads, a flat tire, saw lots of Big Horn Sheep, and even experienced a heavy rainstorm on our way to Grand Forks, BC, where we assisted our good friend Mike of Kettle River Canoes in dismantling his shop. Mike is embarking on a well-deserved retirement from canoe restoration to focus on his new career as an author of canoe restoration how-to books. You can find a link to his books on the DIY Restoration page of this site.

Mike will continue his involvement in the canoe business. He will take on an advisory role with Ghostpine Canoe and Paddle and will handle the estimates for new projects. The actual work will then be carried out at our shop. I'm really looking forward to this exciting collaboration!
