Brew Pub Anyone?

My wife and I don't just love canoes and canoeing. We love craft beer too. We'll go out of our way to find a local brew pub when we travel. And the summer of 2024 was no exception. A road trip East afforded lots of opportunities for exploration, both on the water and in the pub. Did you know, the Holy Grail of craft beer is made just a two hour jaunt from where the WCHA Assembly is typically held? We've come this far... what's another couple of hours?

The manager of our local brew pub put us onto this gem of a place. Alchemist Brewing in Stowe, Vermont. Their most famous beer is called Heady Topper. It's a delicious IPA that is only available at the brewery and a few small local outlets (which apparently sell out of it the same day it arrives).

This was definitely worth the trip. Without a word of a lie, this is the best IPA I've ever had. They make a few others which are also tasty, but Heady Topper is their only beer on tap. And they "pull" you a pint by hand! No CO2 here!

It was so good in fact, that we decided to abandon our plans to return to New York that night. Instead we went into Stowe, got a hotel, and walked back to the brewery to enjoy the live music, vibey atmosphere, and of course the famous pint (served in an aluminum solo cup!)

Put this one on your bucket list!
